The customer service has been great and the software has been the most important part of sustaining growth in our Town programs.

Pros

I use the Point of Sale module for a park that has beach access and a snack shack. With using this feature we have tripled revenues over the last three years. It helps with inventory control in the snack shack, collecting daily admissions, and invoicing our cabin rentals.

The program registration module also is very user-friendly and has put 99% of my registrations on the customer side which relieves me of a lot of administrative time.

Cons

I wish the user side had more customizable features to have a unique website layout. It is still a clean layout.

RecDesk has helped us modernize from paper & pen, to online scheduling, invoicing and communications. Scheduling facilities is more efficient using RecDesk too.

Pros

Blasting out email communications is so easy with RecDesk! We can email the entire community, or a specific roster.
RecDesk is real time so if someone in the office makes a change, anyone logging in anywhere can see it immediately.
Registrations on-line are very smooth and easy to set-up.

The customer support is great. We have a wonderful go-to person. There are helpful tips and FAQs but we have a person to help us out.

Cons

As an administrator, I cannot think of anything that is truly a con.

Pros

I like that its user friendly when you actually know the website, initially its pretty confusing. It helps streamline our programs which is very benefitial.

Cons

Rec Deck is missing alot of features that seem fairly standard with any program and we have put in requests to get things added/ new features added with no success or follow up.

Rec Desk has allowed us to track our financial impact of our recreation programs more accurately and honestly. We believe our recreation program has grown drastically because we now have online registration. We have even been able to add an adult pickleball league because Rec Desk makes it so easy to register and communicate with participants and coaches!

Pros

We can now allow online sign up for programs and accept credit/debit card payments! We love the built-in POS service for our concessions. It also allows us to track the usage of our facilities much better than the membership database software that we had previously. We have also been able to transition to online reservations for all of our rental facilities, which saves so much time and paperwork and eliminates human error as well as the amount of cash changing hands.

Cons

It does not allow for us to check member in and out when using our facilities. It would be nice to be able to track how long people are staying, but it definitely is not high on our priority list.
It would also be nice to be able to edit a series of classes more easily. I recently had to delete an entire class (that takes place 6 times a week) and re-enter it just to change one thing I had done incorrectly.

My biggest "complaint" is that we cannot use all of the Rec Desk features for our pickleball league. We can use it for registration and to set up the initial bracket, but beyond that, it will not work for pickleball because of how you score the players. They play doubles, but their scores are individual. I don't know if there is a way to fix this. It is a rather unique sport in terms of scoring and bracketing.

I wish we could DELETE members rather than ARCHIVE them. Because we can register people on site (at our Rec Center) and people can also register online (when they register for a league/program) we have had several duplicate members created. It would be nice to be able to eliminate all of those archived members at some point. I imagine it is adding to the data that we pay for annually and it is taking up space on your server.

I recommend recdesk to all rec professionals I talk to! Many rec professionals in our area deal with "bigger" rec software and I constantly hear complaints.

I recommend RecDesk because of the excellent customer service and I always let people know that RecDesk continues to add and adapt tools to better suit the needs of their customers so if there is something that their current software has that RecDesk doesnt....They may have it soon, too!

Pros

I like the way RecDesk provide the information needed for participants and staff in case of any emergency. The fact that you keep and accurate number of everyone that enters the building.

Cons

The least thing about RecDesk is sometimes it duplicates the same person with the same information.

I have been using it for just over 6 months and I do struggle from time to time looking for what I need, and often times I need to tell the customer or member to be patient with me because at times I needed to go through several other steps to get to what I wanted.

Pros

I like that I am able to see and provide information for our members when they ask.

Cons

It takes going through several steps sometimes to get the results I want.

RecDesk has filled our needs seamlessly. We are faster and more efficient in our processes and only use around 40% of the programs capabilities.

Pros

Ease of use, learning the program was intuitive and efficient, easy to realize and correct user mistakes. The support I've needed was quick and solved the issues.

Cons

That I'm the only administrator. I wish that I had more staff that I can assign to the program. I have not had any issues with RecDesk.

It was difficult to find some of the activities or programs because they were not in order by date and the registration fee was not on recdesk when I first registered my grandson.

It is cost effective and does everything that we need to keep our organization's programs organized on the front and back end.

Cons

Some of the backend is clunky. For instance, I can only search by last name as far as members and that sometimes is problematic.

Pros

The set up has been very well supported and I could not be happier with the tutorial content and customer support. We have just started using REC DESK, and so far so good!

Cons

I would like better invoice information for the members. It would be better to see items on the invoice with the total amount owing. Also, it would be very good if the member could have an e-mail function, or way to send their invoice to someone else.

It has been great overall I have to say. We really needed a way to offer credit card sales both in person and online to our patrons and this has worked seamlessly.
Soon we are going to add a Sparxo account that will connect to our RecDesk for ticket sales. Now that the arts center is fully open we are ready to use this function by offering tickets online for shows.

Pros

I appreciate the ability I have to schedule events in multiple facilities inside of the arts center, they can overlap, and being able to both print the calendar and export the events into different files is essential. The POS system has been essential for the arts center, we now use it for every event we hold to sell merchandise and concessions.

Cons

In the reports tab, I would really like to have a report for option for POS only. There are times I simply need a report of the POS sales without any of the other data.
Sometimes it takes a while for me to locate certain items because there are so many tabs at the top. Perhaps narrowing down those top tabs into more subcategories would be more helpful for me personally.

Pros

The ease of use is the best thing about RecDesk, I can hire a new employee and with a month of usage they are trained.

Cons

I make all of my schedules on a schedule maker and then have to hand-upload them all and it takes forever. I would love to see a schedule uploader to load them into the system for me.

As stated above, we have been able to increase the number and programs we offer to the community with the same amount of staff because of the time available that formerly was spent administering the programs.

Pros

The scheduling, program registration, and payment collection features were most impactful. We are able to easily manage the programs, to the extent that we have been able to expand our offerings based on the ease of use and the sharp reduction in time needed by staff to facilitate registrations, etc.

Cons

I wish there were two features: 1. A Cost of Goods Sold feature in the inventory. 2. The ability to create ad-hoc reports

Support has been exemplary. Ease of use also ranks up there. Love the ‘wishlist’ feature. RecDesk certainly delivered on one of our wishes.

Cons

A work in progress is our drop in credit classes, doesn’t seem to track and monitor when punches get low. Facility parameters seem tricky.

Our experience with RecDesk has been good from the beginning. The RecDesk staff will work with you to get everything set up. They guide you through the changes, etc, so you learn the system, instead of them doing it for you.

Pros

The ease of use is probably its best feature! There is a slight learning curve as with anything new, but practice makes perfect. This is pretty much a standalone software for use. We use it primarily for league scheduling, facility rentals, and minimal program registrations and POS. We are still discovering hidden features. The Customer Service is great!

Cons

>No toggle box for Tax Exempt Status. We would love to see a toggle box for Tax Exempt Status on the member accounts, so that we would not have to remove sales tax for each transaction.
>Trying to make cancel a reservation and credit the household account on a multi-reservation, multi-pament invoice can be a little tricky if you don't know which payment covers the reservation being cancelled.
One other thing I find a disadvantage is that too many capabilities are lumped together under the user roles.

RecDesk is extremely helpful in bringing any Parks and Recreation department into the 21st-Century with a suite of services & tools that will help you come into the digital age. From online registrations, to great POS options, this program is an all-in-one solution to your managament woes!

Cons

While RecDesk will be there for you every step of the way to help you learn the in's and out's of their system, it might prove difficult for some to brave the learning curve the software asks for to fully take advantage of everyhting it has to offer.
