I am enjoying using the online version and look forward to all the incentives for bringing and setting up clients, like revenue share and affiliate commissions. QB still remains the easiest and most valued bookkeeping software that I will recommend. There are video tutorials for literally everything.

Pros

I love how everything updates automatically for the client when entering as the accountant. Bank reconciliations are an absolute breeze as well when you link bank accounts.

Cons

I miss being able to use the standard shortcuts that are available with the desktop version making things easier to keep your hands on the keyboard for faster entry. I am learning a few alternatives though as I go.

Alternatives Considered

QuickBooks Online has helped me manage all my accounts for many years now. Helps me track all of my expenses. My favorite part is the free invoicing, I can now save money and not have to pay for invoices. They have everything to keep you organized at a great price.

Pros

Pros: Easy to use, affordable, easy to manage and track all of my accounts, business and personal. You can even make invoices to give to your clients.

Cons

Cons: The only thing that I found confusing at first was the layout because it was a lot different then the old software I was using. Like anything it just takes a bit of getting use to.

You can tell that QuickBooks is starting to integrate directly with other services which has its pros and cons. The fact that it’s prettty specific on certain integrations makes it seem more like a limiting monopoly than a truly large business asset you can’t live without. It’s pretty telling when any good accountant dreads having to work within QuickBooks to do any accounting. It’s more of a hub for people that need basic, limiting accounting, that are willing to integrate other apps that have partnered or are owned by QuickBooks. The cost you pay you would think their would be more of a CRM integration with QuickBooks or a sister product for overall business management and quoting/invoicing. However, we’re planning to totally move away because the cost has gotten insane.

Pros

The ease of access, desktop to mobile. The loan options they have were pretty cool, and were better deals than other banks.

Cons

Where do I start? Everything is extremely limiting and cookie cutter. It’s very expensive for not having any sort of customization of invoices or estimates. The fact you can hardly get ahold of a live person that isn’t just a call center tech is aggravating. QuickBooks needs to understand that a business presentation to a client can make or break jobs, yet it gives very limiting options to how you can present.

My overall experience has been a positive one. It has everything I need to run a small business. It gives a sense of relief. I Do

Pros

I really oved using QuickBooks Online. I started a small business selling my sewn goods and QuickBooks helped me with so much. It made it easy to keep an eye on the money coming in, how much I was spending on supplies. It also helped me plan for saving for taxes as well at the end of the year. I really enjoyed how it tracked inventory and made it easy to make estimates and invoices.

Cons

Sometimes the online version would have connection issues and I would have trouble login into my account.

We had a decent experience setting up our account for a small business.

Pros

QBS Online is easy to access, user-friendly, and offers excellent training tutorials for the advanced account setup.

Cons

The advanced features like the backup didn't work properly from the beginning, although the issue seems to have been resolved over time. The customer support is slow to respond and, on some occasions, not skilled or trained enough for a large accounting platform like QBS.

QBO is a great tool for small to middle sized businesses. It doesn't have the power and the tools that QB desktop has so if you're looking to switch be aware that you will likely be giving up some functionality. However, I do like being able to get to my QB file without having to be at a specific computer. And the new AI tools are making some tasks much easier!

Pros

I love how easy it is to log in from anywhere. And I adore the new AI bill entry tools. While it isn't perfect yet, it does save time and make things easier!

Cons

This is a very expensive subscription considering that you have to buy an additional subscription for each company. This makes it impractical for very small businesses and personal books.

I will never recommend QuickBooks Online. Intuit took money out of my account and is saying they didn't receive it and have not paid my federal taxes therefore I will be in arrears. They have put my payroll on hold, so I had to manually pay my employees. I am unable to print pay stubs. They continue to have my payroll on hold till they extort me for another $14K+. I have proven that the money is not in my account nor has the CRA been paid. Who will pay the arrears? I have another payroll coming up that I cannot submit until they release my account.

Pros

Online offers the business needs required.

Cons

The payroll for overtime, EI and vacation pay do not correlate with my payroll requirements so I need to make manual adjustments. It has the ability to freeze your payroll services on a whim.

In the past I have had great experience using it, but after they changed things internally, I do not like using it and I would not encourage others to use it as well. I don't think they took into account the "small" business owners and how it would impact their daily use of the software.

Pros

The only "Pro" I can say, is that all of my information was not lost when they implemented the new changes.

Cons

Ever since they have changed their internal format, the ease of creating simple invoices is no longer there. The appearance is awful, you cannot change the size of the font to make certain aspects of your invoice stand out. It is too congested and not spaced out well at all! It is very difficult to read and it extremely unprofessional looking!

Been using and supporting Quickbooks on the IT side for 20+ years. I find the online version easier to use and less issues with Windows, Mac etc. some issues still remain like one button app access instead of going through a multi-portal step process. As you add users and options the price spikes so make sure this is the correct product instead of Quikcbooks Desktop.

I had purchased multiple accounts after speaking with a representative. I did one for our business, and they had told me that I could manage our personal finances on the other one. I found that using this software to try and manage personal finances was not as great as other software out there. However for business, this is hands down the best software that I had used. I recommend this for businesses, however do not recommend them for personal finances to help build budgets and have more control.

Pros

Quickbooks has great automation features and the ability to connect a wide range of accounts for your business.

Cons

As a newer customer not as familiar with QuickBooks, I found that navigating at times was sometimes difficult until you learn the buttons or locations.

The overall experience has been okay. From an accessibility standpoint, it is a step up from QuickBooks Desktop. That said, it still seems that the platform is far off from seamless usage and highly-advantageous features.

Pros

QuickBooks Online notably provides key accessibility benefits. The platform itself is easy to navigate around, and often quick at responding. QB seems to be continuing creating updates + new features.

Cons

QuickBooks Online has become increasingly difficult to use. Their ongoing development + updates is a good thing, however, oftentimes it creates a very buggy user experience. For example, some features will work one day, not work the next, then return a week later.

Really dislike that we no longer can open invoices by clicking on the line item, but have to navigate over to the View/Edit button over to the right.

Always hoping for the release of granular permissions / access controls, but not sure it is coming.

Overall, my experience with QuickBooks Online has been very positive. It’s a powerful tool that balances ease of use with robust functionality. The accessibility and integrations have significantly improved my ability to manage finances efficiently. While there are occasional challenges in navigating the reporting features, they are outweighed by the benefits the software provides. Over time, as you get used to its layout and features, it becomes an indispensable tool for financial management.

Pros

What I like most about QuickBooks Online is its ease of use, making it accessible even for those who aren’t accounting experts. The fact that I can access it from anywhere is incredibly convenient, especially when I need to manage finances on the go. The integrations with other tools and services are also a huge plus, streamlining many aspects of my business operations.

Cons

The downside is that sometimes it can be tricky to find the right report or to filter out the exact information I need. However, this does tend to improve as you become more familiar with the software. It’s a minor learning curve, but one worth noting.

We use an accounting company to manage our financial reporting. Our use of this software is mostly for internal performance tracking and for making decisions.
For the intended use, it works perfectly. I would have loved though if there was further customization for example with reporting and analytics.

Pros

The design of the software, in general, is user-friendly. I studied accounting, but even my team members who didn't, had an easy time with the learning curve.
I also like that it is Cloud-Based and that the entire team can access it from different devices.
Another feature I thoroughly enjoyed, is the automated reports. I set it to be sent automatically to the management team before every performance meeting.

Cons

Customer support is pretty slow to solve inquiries, and on certain occasions, several days would pass and when we check with them they would start the resolution process from scratch.

In ten years with QuickBooks Online, I never had to contact their Online Support. After seeing issues with the way QuickBooks Online was performing their accounting functions, I was informed there were over 10,000 errors in the database. Maintenance of the online database in the cloud is QuickBooks responsibility, not mine. After they requested I pay for fixing of their online database, I knew I was done with this company.

Pros

QuickBooks Online has numerous positive features and ton of automation. My HOA used QuickBooks Online for ten years.

Cons

QuickBooks Technical Department was not able to maintain their Online Cloud Database. After seeing numerous errors in the way QuickBooks Online was performing accounting, I contacted QuickBooks Online Technical Support. They informed me their was over 10,000 errors in the database they were tasked with maintaining. Then they insisted I pay between $850 to $1,350 to fix the database they were suppose to maintain on an ongoing basis. I informed them I needed to be with a more reliable & responsible company, so I cancelled after 10 years of use and moved to another online accounting product.

I enjoy using Quickbooks. We have not tried another book keeping software so I am not sure if others are better, but we don't have any plans on changing anytime soon.

Pros

Quickbooks Online is your one stop shop for business accounting and operations. We have used quickbooks since 2014 for our businesses. It has amazing features to help automate the process such as uploading bank statements so you don't have to make manual entries

Cons

We’ve had a positive experience with QuickBooks Online. It’s reliable, user-friendly, and has become an essential tool for our accounting needs. We review our subscriptions annually, and it’s a service we plan to keep using due to its functionality and ease of use.

Pros

QuickBooks Online is extremely user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to manage our finances. The cloud-based access is convenient, and it integrates well with other software, streamlining our accounting processes. It’s great for invoicing, tracking expenses, and generating financial reports quickly.

Cons

Some advanced features are only available in the accounting view, which can be limiting for users who may also have accounting responsibilities but don’t have access to this view. Additionally, as your business grows in size or complexity, especially with multiple subsidiaries, QuickBooks Online may not be robust enough to handle more intricate financial requirements.

Quickbooks Online has streamlined our accounting more than we realized was possible. Rather than having all of our satellite locations send in raw data to our central office to be processed then entered, we have been able to train our offsite managers in how to enter payments and other information. The checks and balances provided assures that we are not having payments “disappear,” and it also has allowed us to reallocate resources to more vital areas.

Pros

Quickbooks is the standard bearer for accounting software. The online version that we recently transitioned to provides all the functionality and support that we had become accustomed to, with the added bonus of being able to be deployed across multiple platforms, applications, devices, and locations.
