As a user of Microsoft Project, I have found the software to be a robust and comprehensive project management tool. Its features for planning, scheduling, and tracking have been instrumental in keeping my projects organized and on track.
One of the key advantages of Microsoft Project is its integration with other Microsoft tools such as Excel and SharePoint. This has allowed for seamless collaboration and easy data exchange among team members. The ability to import and export data between different Microsoft applications has been particularly helpful in streamlining workflows and ensuring consistency across project documents.
Pros
1. Comprehensive project management tool with features for planning, scheduling, and tracking.
2. Integration with other Microsoft tools like Excel and SharePoint for seamless collaboration and data exchange.
3. Robust reporting and data visualization capabilities to track project progress and communicate updates.
4. Scalable for projects of various sizes, from small tasks to large-scale initiatives.
5. Extensive customization options to tailor the tool to specific project requirements.
Cons
1. Steep learning curve for beginners due to the complexity of the tool's features and interface.
2. Expensive licensing costs, especially for smaller teams or individual users.
3. Limited cloud-based capabilities compared to other project management solutions.
4. Compatibility issues with non-Microsoft software and challenges in data exchange with external stakeholders.
5. Requires regular updates and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

In general, the best thing Microsoft Project has going for it, is that it's been around forever; most people are already familiar with it.
Pros
Microsoft Project is ubiquitous, and as such extra training is usually not required. The average person is already a user.
Cons
As time has gone by, the competition has improved more then Microsoft Project. There is open source SW which is more intuitive and easy to use.

Microsoft Project has allowed our company to collaborate as a team to meet project goals efficiently and effectively. Once everyone understands the software, it is exceptional for creating plans and assigning tasks to our team members. It has also allowed project managers to track the progress of assigned tasks. This software has been very valuable in meeting timelines and goals.
Pros
Microsoft Project makes it easy to collaborate with a team to create project plans, assign tasks, and track project progress.
Cons
Due to the software's complex nature, the learning curve is long. Although it is nice to have a wide selection of tools to use, it requires a lot of time to learn all of them.

Microsoft Project's resource management feature is another key benefit. It is possible to prevent resource misuse and balance job distribution by using the platform's extensive insights about resource allocation, availability, and workload. Ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery and maximizing team productivity depend on this capacity.
Pros
Microsoft Project's strong and extensive project management features are what I like most about it as the Director of ICT Operations. Offering a wide range of capabilities to help with scheduling, planning, and resource management, Microsoft Project excels at handling complicated projects. We can readily view project timeframes, dependencies, and key paths thanks to its intuitive Gantt chart capability, which is helpful. Efficient monitoring of project progress and prompt detection of possible bottlenecks or delays are made possible by this visual representation.
Its compatibility with other Microsoft programs, like Teams, Excel, and SharePoint, is yet another noteworthy aspect. This smooth connectivity makes it possible to import and export project data with ease, encouraging departmental collaboration and guaranteeing that everyone is aware of every development.
Cons
It is less affordable for businesses that do not need all of the complex capabilities it offers due to its price structure, which can be somewhat pricey, especially for the cloud-based version.

Good project management tool and user friendly, but it has too much automation which cause false values, especially in tasks management. Also, it is a very expensive and licensed limited software, therefore, unless your company is a multinational corporation, I don't recommend it since there are a lot of less expensive project management tool on the market that have the exact same features.
Pros
Microsoft Project fully integrates with all Microsoft 365 tools and it is super user friendly to use.
Cons
Not good if your clients need to collaborate on the tasks progress because it requires your clients to have an MS Project license which most don't have. Also, MS Project auto-calculate realisation time by the amount of days you set for a task which doesn't reflect the real time in hours for the task. Finally, it is an insanely expensive tool, there are far more less expensive project management tools that have the same exact features.

My Overall experience with Microsoft Project has been great, especially given that I had no prior experience of using the software. I was able to quickly grasp the UI and troubleshoot any issues that came up.
Pros
Fairly easy to use, especially if you have a good grasp of MS Excel.
It's highly flexible and allows the user to change and tweak a lot of key parameters.
Cons
Compared to other scheduling softwares, e.g. P6, it misses out on some key functionalities. A key feature missing is % work planned. It allows user to compare what % of work was planned till date vs how much has been completed.

I think Microsoft project is the easiest way to project plan for engineering projects. Primavera is a strong tool, however, for less experienced planners and managers, Microsoft project is the easiest to use and simplest to learn.
Pros
It is easy to use compared to other project planning softwares. It also integrates easily with teams and other used programs.
Cons
It is costly, and not everyone can have access to quickly editing or working on a plan. People will default to do work in excel since it is more easily available.
