Fathom
About Fathom
Fathom is a financial analysis and management reporting tool, designed to help users monitor trends, assess business performance, and identify opportunities for improvement. Integrations with QuickBooks, Xero, and MYOB, allowing users to import financial data directly from their accounting software.
Fathom’s analysis tools include a summary of all KPIs, showing whether or not they have achieved a favourable result in the current period, cash flow analysis, and Goalseek, in which users can change multiple variables to visualize their overall impact on a KPI. Users can also rank and benchmark all of their companies or clients against each other to identify which are the highest or lowest performers.
Customised reports can be generated from users’ choice of KPIs, both financial and non-financial, and be branded with company logos before sharing with clients. Users can also set alerts to notify them when KPI results fall above or below critical threshold values, chosen by the user, informing them of any significant changes to a company’s performance.
Key benefits of Fathom
All subscription plans include unlimited users, full feature set, online and phone support, and regular updates
Currency consolidation allows users to create consolidated financial statements for businesses operating in more than one country across more than 50 currencies
Alerts are triggered when a KPI result exceeds a critical threshold, such as cash reserves dropping below a preset acceptable balance
Then KPI explorer gives users an overview of the performance on all KPIs across different review periods, with sorting options such as variance from target and importance
Fathom has inbuilt financial and non-financial KPIs, and custom KPIs can be defined by users with their own formula for calculation
Breakdown analysis allows users to compare the performance of different parts of a business, such as divisions or locations, and create reports about the performance and profitability of each area

Fathom saves us hundreds (yes, hundreds) of hours per month in labor since we can build a template and copy it between entities. That meant we could create a financial statement format and duplicate it over and over and over as needed to generate reports.Clients also appreciate the clean aesthetic and reliable KPIs - our reporting, while customized, stands out from those firms dumping things right out of QuickBooks or building and re-building them in Excel.
Pros
Syncs to QuickBooks instantly, updates regularly, and allows for unlimited groups to be created for the consolidation of financials between multiple companies. Also, most reports can be exported into Excel if you need to do a little finessing.
Cons
The consolidated charts & graphs module is still in need of a few more granular features.

Fathom is a Go to Forcasting Tool
Reviewed on 16/11/2023
Pros
Our firm has looked at a number of cashflow tools for our clients and we have not found anything else with as many features to build out a very detailed cashflow as Fathom has. There are options for drivers, mini budgets, and the bonus is the balance sheet forcasting.
Cons
It takes a lot of time to set it up. It also is harder to learn but once the tool is learned it's easy to use. When you're building out your forecast it is easy to mistakenly delete all of the amounts, and there is not an undo. you have to be very cautious on how you adjust your cashflow to make changes.
