SAM Overview

What is SAM?

SAM is a tool for planning, scheduling, and tracking aircraft repairs and maintenance. Designed for use by CAMO and MRO businesses, SAM offers users inventory management, task scheduling, resource allocation, part reordering, batch and serial number tracking, fleet overview, and productivity tracking capabilities.

SAM gives users an overview of the status, availability, and shelf life (with support for both cure dates and expiry dates) for all spare parts. Batch and serial numbers are linked with documents, and materials set to be used “in house” are automatically registered to the aircraft tail number, to avoid part losses. Minimum levels can be set for parts, and those parts reordered when the number in stock falls below minimum. SAM also supports 3D barcoding.

Users can automatically import maintenance task lists into SAM, and define the part required for each task. Interactions between inventory and work orders allows for ordering parts in “just in time” for maintenance to be carried out, designed to reduce ordering and storage of unnecessary parts and improve cashflow. Work and preparation hours required, and necessary minimum skill levels can also be defined, allowing users to appropriately allocate their staff.

I have seen few other programs for maintaining aircrafts and airworthiness but SAM still offers the most widest features and best value for money. There is still couple features where we need other program to support our actions (like communication between workers and scheduling maintenances) but I have already seen progress with these features and hopefully some day in near future we can drop this other program away.

I have seen few other programs for maintaining aircrafts and airworthiness but SAM still offers the most widest features and best value for money. Pros

When you get it, it's pretty easy to use. Also I'm very satisfyid for customers support serivice. I always get answers quickly and they help me to find easiest and the most suitable solution for my issues.

Cons

Sometimes we still have some bugs in you system, but always when reporting them, I'll get directions how to proceed and some hours/days/weeks later (depending on quality of bugs) it's been taken care of.

I like the overview and the possibility to switch between the different modules fast and easy.

Cons

Not been able to customize reports ourselves and in an easy way if not educated in programming Crystal Report.
