Great vacation tracker for salaried EEs

Pros
Ease of use, it is very user-friendly. I especially appreciated the year to year renewals of vacation accruals so that it never needed to be done manually.
Cons
I found some glitches with my employees vacation time but overall did not run into any big issues.

We've been using PurelyHR since it was called Time Off Manager. It's been a great tool for us at a great price-point. Would love to see if there as an optional automation tied to Slack that would alert the company when someone is OOO, or has time off coming up.
Pros
PurelyHR is easy to use by employees and administrator alike. The reports are easy to pull and review. Appreciate the calendar view and seeing everyone's time-off schedule, plus holidays. Love being able to add our own events (like a conference or company offsite). Customer service has always been exceptional -- quick to respond and helpful.
Cons
It might be a setting that I need to tweak, but usually when someone wants to take off time that is not 8 hours or 4 hours as the account admin I need to manually enter it. Not really a problem, but sometimes the employee is confused about how to handle that.

Overall, if I knew of a resource I could reference anytime I need to for instructions, it would be so helpful. I appreciate the ability to schedule a call, but sometimes I need to generate information quickly and don't have the time to wait for a call. I wish there were more webinars on specific topics, rather than fewer that are so packed with information it's tough to follow.
Pros
I like that there is a variety of reports to access. I also like how easy it is for staff to use the time clock module.
Cons
There is a learning curve since there is no hard copy to reference for instructions. I also don't like that the modules don't communicate with one another. I have to pull reports out to Excel and manipulate the data there. It can be time-consuming.

The overall experience has been mediocre. Their support is quick but really unhelpful. Either they don't know or send the wrong information. Often replies seem canned and do not relate to what was asked.
Pros
We really appreciate the cost of the platform. It's one of the most affordable options for a small company (<25 employees). We like the timesheet audit so you can see when the live clock in/outs were. Many other software options were missing that. The onboarding is a great process and allows us to customize per employee or department. Having employees be able to login and choose their location (office or remote) is why we have stuck with this software for now.
Cons
While there have been many updates in 2025, there are still things that are missing in PurelyHR or not compliant. The signing of documents is a useless feature. We can't see the signed doc (signature ON the doc). We can only see the employee signed it which would not hold up legally. Also, their vacation accrual is not compliant in Alberta. We have to use another software to calculate compliant vacation accrual. It needs to be based on vacationable hours worked and it's not. Having report templates would be great - we have to find, create, and customize reports every single time because there isn't a way to save a template. It's really inefficient. This is perhaps the most frustrating missing feature that would cause us to leave. While we are not completely satisfied with PurelyHR, it's the most affordable option for now but we do have to use several other software, plus excel docs, plus a payroll system, plus an ATS, plus others to get the info, reporting, and Human Resources features we need. It's definitely not a one-stop for all of your HRIS needs.
