STACK
About STACK
STACK offers a suite of cloud-based construction software solutions include takeoff and estimating, project management and field productivity software. STACK is a single and centralized platform from which to manage construction bidding processes and manage the entire construction process.
Incorporating takeoff measurement and markup tools, smart estimation technology, reports, real-time collaboration, streamlined bidding and customization capabilities, STACK aims to provide users with an accurate and flexible takeoff and estimating solution. Designed to accommodate any trade, STACK operates easily for landscaping, roofing or concrete and masonry projects as well as for general construction projects.
With STACK, users can measure digital plans, collaborate with team members, finalize project estimates and customize materials and pricing quickly and accurately. Concrete and masonry contractors can estimate footings, walls, site casts and tilt-up or lift-slab projects, while interior finish contractors can measure plans and determine quantities for ceiling, drywall, flooring and painting. STACK’s powerful measurement, markup and cutout tools are also beneficial for landscapers planning minor sitework, irrigation or paving and general contractors seeking to verify quantity takeoff. With these careful measurements, users can then apply material, labor and equipment costs accordingly.
Every STACK user has access to a library of industry specific material databases, customizable takeoff and estimating reports and organizational tools such as the bid calendar dashboard, optical character recognition (OCR), auto naming and bookmarking. STACK provides users with a cloud-based, floating license which allows users to access and utilize STACK features at any time, from any location. To further enhance STACK’s flexibility, users receive automatic software updates and on-demand training.

Applications that Keep Getting Better may be estimated quickly and easily using Stack
Reviewed on 18/12/2022
Pros
The stack is top-notch from the start. The program is just well-made, from the user-friendly interface to the comprehensive and customizable repository of parts and assemblies. It enables rapid and simple takeoffs from any PC in the world. The developers receive excellent support, and they are always working on a big list of suggestions for improvements from the user base. The level of support is unmatched, the STACK experts are always accessible to help, and frequent updates, webinars, and one-on-one training keep users informed about changes made to the software or advice on how to get the most out of it.
Cons
Limited capabilities, the worst take-off software I've ever used, and fraudsters on staff who promise callbacks after taking you off your hard-earned money. They don't have a refund policy. Additionally, instead of you a discount if you add a second user, they charge you twice as much. It might be difficult to accurately assess the benefits Stack can provide during the trial time.

We love it

Pros
The fact that it is all online and our ops guys can see the plans at the jobsite from their phone.
Cons
I love using your software but there are 2 things that I would like for you to improve.Sometimes I upload multiple pages for a project. When I am working on the takeoff you can see On the left the plans that you are working on listed on listed by plan name . It would be nice to be able to go to the pages that you are working on by simply clicking on the page name that is listed on the left side.Slope factorIts great that we are able to measure the basic slope by using the built in slope factor calculator. But that is only helpful for measuring the basic slope of the roof area and the rake and sidewall. But it would be great if you can add the valley and hip factor as well. It is hard to get the exact measurement without that because the hip / valley slope factor is different than the basic slope of the roof. Please see the link below that will explain what I am talking about in regards to the hip and valley. [sensitive content hidden]

Stack Functionality

We are no longer using Stack for estimating purposes at BEAM Concrete
Pros
The system is easy to use for uploading drawings and automatically naming the drawings. When it links the details, it is very efficient.
Cons
Much of the functionality we need to do an accurate takeoff is not available. We use our takeoff in the field for a quick reference guide for our superintendents. The Stack system does not allow us to use different colors for different size and depth piers. It also does not let us define different size and height columns. We use the our takeoffs to cross reference our CY of concrete for concrete quotes. The Stack system is difficult to navigate and get accurate CY for all of the elements of concrete construction that we perform.

Stack is the best estimating software

I am not an estimator but was a Project Manager and the way I could get exactly what I needed from Stack and even being able to convert data into a CSV was amazing. I wish when I was interviewing an estimator they came across this system because it does take a little bit of transitioning from such a robust software they previously used to our easy system.
Pros
Simplicity yet so much can come from it. There's endless videos on how to use. Building assemblies is such an easy thing to do. Collaboration is also done and you are able to track time spent on each estimate and job cost. Love how great the style is and the way it is kept easy and simple to navigate. Nothing robust.
Cons
Not a lot of people are aware of stack or believe stack is overpriced. Making this system known to others would be great so that whoever we employ already has Stack knowledge.

I am extremely impressed with STACK. The tools, support, and ease of use are far beyond any other takeoff tool that I have used.
Pros
Using the takeoffs, items, and assemblies I am able to create accurate proposals and deliver them in a timely manner. This has increased my efficiency in immeasurable ways. Takeoffs that took me multiple days to finish by hand are now able to be completed in a couple hours.
Cons
When working on large projects, sometimes the system gets laggy. It only happens with the largest plans I deal with, when there are dozens of takeoffs being measured.
