InVision App
About InVision App
InVision is a digital product design to development platform for design and developer teams to build high-fidelity web and mobile prototypes. Teams can turn ideas into screen designs using InVision's vector-based drawing and flexible layers. Users are able to prototype, manage, review, refine, and test digital products without a line of code, as well as collaborate in real time and collect feedback to help move projects forward.
InVision enables users to connect the entire product design workflow. Teams can explore ideas using the digital whiteboard to create freehand sketches, draw, wireframe, and collect feedback from team members on all work-in-progress designs. InVision's screen design tool comes with intuitive vector-based drawing functionality and flexible layers, including built-in animated transitions and micro-interactions, which allow static screens to become working prototypes. All team members are notified immediately of any changes made to designs, which are automatically synchronized to the entire team. Designers are able to switch to the latest version or roll back updates at any time. Users can also access multiple libraries directly from Sketch or InVision, and push or pull changes with a click.
Users can keep all brand and UX components such as images, fonts, colors, icons, and even usage documents within the system, providing team members with a single source of truth. The InVision platform integrates with third party collaboration tools such as Jira, Slack, Trello, DropBox, Basecamp, and more, allowing team members to seamlessly navigate the full design process in one place.

We're able to quickly prototype full sites or small CRO changes and with the added ability to update on the fly, we can push changes live to anyone viewing live. It's allowed us to show off our thoughts and ideas to clients and stakeholders with great effect, wowing them every time!
Pros
I mainly use Invision as a delivery method for presenting web and mobile site designs. We have a few internal sites we manage and I use Invision to show any CRO changes that are to be made. This makes it easy for design, dev and directors to see how things work and what it will look like before any time is spent on development.
A bonus for our dev team is the inspect function, having uploaded form Sketch they can inspect fonts, colours, sizes and basic CSS attributes to exactly copy the design. Assets can also be downloaded which saves time if they change over time.
Cons
Some basic functionality such as fixed background images would be useful to convey how some designs should work. I know it's not meant to be a working site, it's just the little touches sometimes that could help others see your vision.

AxureReasons for Switching to InVision App
InVision was cheaper and Axure seemed to combine the design side and prototyping, whereas we were already using Sketch which has an InVision plugin to sync artboards.- Industry: Information Technology & Services

My overall experience with InVision App has been highly positive. The platform's robust features and intuitive interface have greatly streamlined our design collaboration efforts. The ability to create interactive prototypes and gather real-time feedback from stakeholders has elevated our design process. While there were some minor areas for improvement, such as occasional performance issues and limited design customization, InVision App has proven to be a reliable and valuable tool in our design workflow. It has facilitated seamless collaboration, enhanced communication, and ultimately contributed to delivering exceptional design experiences.
Pros
InVision App captivated me with its standout features that revolutionized our design collaboration process. The ability to create interactive prototypes with seamless transitions and animations was a game-changer. The real-time collaboration capabilities allowed our team to work together effortlessly, providing instant feedback and reducing iteration cycles. The intuitive interface made it a breeze to navigate and present designs to stakeholders. The extensive range of integrations with design tools and project management platforms further enhanced our workflow. InVision App has become an indispensable tool, elevating our design collaboration to new heights.
Cons
While InVision App offers a range of valuable features for design collaboration, there were a few aspects that left something to be desired. One drawback was the occasional performance issues and slow loading times, which could disrupt our workflow and hinder productivity. The limited functionality in terms of design customization and editing capabilities was a minor drawback, especially for more complex design projects. The pricing structure felt a bit on the higher side compared to some alternatives. Additionally, the learning curve for new users could be steep, requiring dedicated time for onboarding and exploration. Despite these drawbacks, InVision App remains a solid tool for design collaboration, but it could benefit from addressing these areas of improvement.

It helped me collaborate with team members in our recently imposed remote working setup.
Pros
I liked the rich set of templates, the version control and the ability to import sketches and images for inclusion in work flows. The software is intuitive to use with some useful short-cut key assignments.
Cons
I would have liked to have seen comments from other collaborators appearing in the design document in real-time. The ability to rotate objects when working in freehand is not supported (a minor annoyance), but it is good to hear that this is a feature that is being considered for the future.

Good, we need to add more robust presentation tools. I like how Miro does it. Being able to export to Powerpoint is also a bonus.
Pros
It's easy to use, not complicated, and affordable for teams. It does one thing and does it well. I hope they'll continue to add more templates.
Cons
Lack of templates to start with; I hope there will be more templates coming in the future.
