About Mural
MURAL is a collaboration management software that helps businesses plan, design, brainstorm, and analyze ideas and create custom workflows to streamline decision-making operations across teams. The platform enables organizations to store documents in a centralized AES-256 encrypted repository and securely share data with team members.
MURAL includes a thinking canvas, which lets participants display ideas on a digital board using sticky notes, and organize information using lists, methods, frameworks, flowcharts, and diagrams to align duties and schedule tasks. It offers a host of features such as customizable templates, idea capture, mind maps, client discovery, post-meeting debriefs, timeframe recommendations, and more. Additionally, scheduling functionality allows managers to set timers for activities, invite users, provide role-based access to specific canvas sections, lock content, and run polls to ensure timely completion of projects.
Planning capabilities of MURAL enable administrators to design workshops, map customer journeys, and evaluate strategies to facilitate brainstorming sessions. The solution also supports integration with various third-party applications including Dropbox, Microsoft Teams, Jira, GitHub, Slack, Google Calendar, OneDrive, and The Noun Project.
Key benefits of Mural
• MURAL offers virtual whiteboards, which enables teams to visually brainstorm ideas, discuss operational challenges, organize agile processes, and facilitate design thinking methods using smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
• Employees can use sticky notes to add thoughts, ideas, and feedback and built-in shapes and connectors module to create diagrams, mapping out administrative workflows.
• MURAL allows professionals to create and edit visual stories by selecting icons from a centralized library.
• It allows users to capture and store content and ideas in a centralized repository, add images or GIFs using a drag-and-drop functionality, and support free-hand sketching and writing.
• It lets teams invite colleagues to collaborate on projects, sketch designs, import photos, provide feedback on ideas, and distribute digital murals via hyperlinks.

I started out choosing Mural over Miro for its free proposition, and in this regard, it comes out on top. It offers 5 free boards, which is quite a lot more than its competition, and this helps to try it for an unlimited time and get to know all its advantages.
Pros
Mural is ideal for creating mind maps and very easy-to-use flowcharts. The number of pre-designed templates it has is endless. It allows the anonymous entry (without registration) of many people to a board to work on it. It offers a limited free version that allows you to create up to a maximum of 5 boards. (more than Miro, for example) Previously the tool only offered a trial version for 30 days.
Cons
It has few integrations developed for external applications.
The clip art gallery is limited but also supports the user's own images.

Mural is the corporate version of Miro, it feels sluggish and uninspiring

It's for online collaboration mostly.
It's for online collaboration mostly.
Pros
It does what it says on the tin. You can still manage your way around in the app, it's just that it doesn't inspire much in the way Miro does. Templates are unappealing, fonts are unappealing and it takes effort to adjust everything to your own liking, more than it should.
Cons
I just really miss using Miro to be honest. Mural has everything Miro has, but in a lesser form. It's like Powerpoint vs Keynote. Powerpoint definitely will get the job done but if you want to have more control or use advanced features you will want to use Keynote. As a designer I miss that in Mural. In that same fashion, Mural also allows you to have more administrative rights over others, just like Powerpoint can force you to use company templates in limited ways.

Despite some of the functionality having an additional learning curve, Mural serves as an excellent way for remote teams (and even teams just wanting a more 'digital' brainstorming experience) to collaborate.
Pros
I love how easy Mural makes the process of visual 'mind-mapping' among remote co-workers. If we want to do an exercise, for example, that requires virtual 'sticky-notes' for brainstorming process improvements, Mural facilitates this process seamlessly.
Cons
Mural does take a little time to get up to speed on using it. You can definitely jump right in on some of the basic features, but to use some of its more advanced features (keyboard shortcuts, for example), it will take some time to learn them.

My overall experience has been good. Mural offers many good features for organising virtual workshops. I use Mural on a weekly basis and it does help me with facilitating virtual workshops.
Pros
Mural has many good features for creating digital collaboration frameworks. It allows for many participants to work on the same canvas at the same time. It is a good tool for workshops.
Cons
Sometimes it is difficult to collaborate on a mural canvas when there are several people making changes at the same time. Objects may move around if they are not locked well and the whole canvas might get messy.
