One we relied on advertised cross-run deduplication that silently didn't work — we paid repeatedly for identical results for weeks before we measured it ourselves, and nothing in the console would have shown us, because that state lived inside the actor. Actors also change their output shape without warning; a single renamed field broke a whole run for us. And a run can succeed on Apify while your side never fetches the dataset — you're billed either way, so you end up building your own ledger of started-but-unread runs.
