Schematic capture, PCB layout, manufacturing output, 3D visualisation, simulation, and reporting are integrated into a single application, eliminating the friction of jumping between separate tools, file formats, and licences for each phase of the design process.

In addition to mainstream professional PCB design, Proteus includes both mixed-signal SPICE simulation and microcontroller co-simulation at no extra cost. This is particularly valuable in educational settings, where a single tool can teach circuit theory, microcontroller programming, and PCB design without requiring multiple software packages.

Shape based autorouting and 3D Visualisation included with all PCB versions and high-speed design features such as differential pair routing, length matching, net tuning, and full design rule checking come with all professional products (PCB Level 2 and upwards).

Design files always remain on the user's local machine. The software runs offline for single-user commercial deployments. Where multi-user server licensing is used, the network connection is for licence verification only, not for design data.

Peripheral models cover keypads, TFT displays, sensors, motors, and communications bus controllers (SPI, I²C, USB, UART).\n\nProteus is typically sold under a perpetual licence.
