Designed by ED Clinicians for ED Clinicians, PulseCheck ED manages to sidestep these disadvantages while providing a cost-effective, streamlined, patient- and provider-focused product designed to help rather than impede the care of our patients. I am equally impressed by the PulseCheck ED team’s aptitude and desire in molding the software to meet special hospital system needs. > > **Cons**: This solution is expertly designed for use in the emergency department but is still growing with respect to ED boarders and/or ED Observation Units. We have had challenges adapting the solution for use in an inpatient setting however it was never the intent nor design of PulseCheck ED to be used in these clinical settings. It is easy to navigate. It helps with the flow in the ED. The tracking board is a visual snapshot of what is happening in the ED. It assists in collecting data and there are many reports within the system. > > **Cons**: That it does not communicate with the other systems we have. > > When we switched from paper to the computer system, I worried it would be a problem since I was not experienced in using computers. I volunteered to train as a superuser thinking it would help me to gain confidence and it did. I am now an educator for the system in the ED. I also do "builds" - order sets and customizing templates. They are knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. This is being developed now though. In all fairness, this software is meant for true ED workflows not for boarding long term patients.
