## Reviews

### "Excel is cumbersome, but effective" — 4.0/5

> **Greg** | *8 July 2025* | Education Management | Recommendation rating: 7.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Excel can do so many incredible things from forecasting and budgeting to functions and calculations. I use it for all kinds of projects that require prioritization, sorting, and data cleanup. Excel is fantastic for these projects. I also use some more advanced functions for a calculus class that I'm in which also provides fascinating solutions
>
> **Cons**: Excel has some features that are highly illogical (at least on a Mac). The desktop version has all the functions while the web app is missing a lot of them. Doing simple things like moving columns and deleting rows can be such a hassle compared to Google Sheets.
>
> Overall Excel isn't bad, but it's not my favorite spreadsheet product. I would choose to use Google Sheets over Excel any time that I can. Excel can get it done, but it's usually more cumbersome than I'd like it to be.

### "Powerful and Reliable Tool with a Learning Curve" — 5.0/5

> **alissa** | *31 March 2026* | Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Excel is very powerful and versatile, especially for organizing data, creating reports, and managing information. It offers great value for the features it provides, and once you learn it, it becomes an essential tool. I also like how customizable it is with templates and formulas, and how well it works across both desktop and mobile devices
>
> **Cons**: Excel can be difficult to learn at first, especially for more advanced features. The navigation can feel overwhelming with so many options, and sometimes troubleshooting can take time.
>
> Overall, my experience with Excel has been very positive. It’s a reliable and widely used tool that makes it easy to organize, analyze, and manage data. While there is a learning curve and occasional performance issues, the functionality and flexibility make it worth it. It works well across devices, and once you’re comfortable using it, it becomes a very valuable tool for both personal and professional use.

### "Sometimes a nightmare." — 3.0/5

> **Verified Reviewer** | *30 March 2026* | Consumer Services | Recommendation rating: 6.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Excel lets me go from messy notes to complex, automated models without forcing a structure on me. That instant feedback loop is addictive.
>
> **Cons**: It is very easy to make mistakes, such as typing over a formula, mistyping data, or having broken links.
>
> Excel is such a classic. It’s the one tool I can’t live without for keeping my life in order, but man, it can be a nightmare when one tiny formula ruins your entire afternoon. It honestly feels like a superpower once you get the hang of it, but there are definitely days where I feel like I need a PhD just to get a simple chart looking right.

### "Great for Clarity, Challenging When Things Get Fussy" — 5.0/5

> **Candice** | *4 January 2026* | Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: What you like most about Microsoft Excel is how it gives you complete control over information. You’re naturally analytical and you think in patterns, so Excel feels like a place where everything finally lines up and makes sense. You can track trends, compare numbers, spot inconsistencies, and build little systems that make life easier whether it’s budgeting, planning tenancy timelines, analysing fitness or wellness routines, or organising household data. You love that Excel doesn’t just store information; it helps you understand it. The formulas, filters, and conditional formatting let you turn raw details into something visual and logical, and that sense of clarity is something you really value. It’s a tool that matches the way your mind works: structured, precise, and always looking for the bigger pattern behind the details.
>
> **Cons**: What you liked least about Microsoft Excel was how quickly it could become overwhelming when you were just trying to do something simple. You’re great with patterns and logic, but Excel sometimes felt like it expected you to think like a programmer, especially when formulas got fussy or one tiny mistake threw everything off. You didn’t enjoy the moments where a sheet became cluttered, or when you had to dig through menus to find a basic function that should’ve been easier to access. And when something didn’t calculate the way you expected, it could be frustrating because Excel doesn’t always explain what went wrong it just gives you an error and leaves you to figure it out. Those little roadblocks were the parts you liked least, especially when you were trying to work efficiently and keep everything clear and organised.
>
> Overall, your experience with Microsoft Excel was genuinely positive because it gave you a sense of clarity and control over information that would otherwise feel scattered. You appreciated how powerful it was for tracking patterns, organising data, and making sense of numbers whether you were budgeting, comparing trends, or building little systems to keep life running smoothly. At the same time, Excel could be a bit much when you just wanted something simple; formulas could get fussy, and one small mistake could throw everything off without any clear explanation. Navigation was mostly straightforward, but some features felt buried or overly technical. Still, for what you got out of it, the value for money felt solid, and you rarely needed customer support because you usually figured things out yourself. In the end, Excel matched your analytical, structured way of thinking, even if it occasionally tested your patience.

### "Microsoft Excel – Where One Wrong Formula Ruins Your Whole Day" — 5.0/5

> **Leo** | *16 March 2026* | Marketing & Advertising | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: What I like most about Microsoft Excel is how versatile it is. It can handle very simple tasks, like organising lists or tracking expenses, but it’s also powerful enough for complex analysis using formulas, pivot tables and charts. I also appreciate how it helps turn raw data into something clear and meaningful, which makes it easier to spot trends and make decisions. Overall, it’s a practical tool that saves time and improves accuracy when working with data.
>
> **Cons**: What I like least about Microsoft Excel is that complex spreadsheets can quickly become difficult to manage and understand, especially when they contain many formulas, links, or multiple sheets. If they are not organised well, it can be easy to make mistakes or lose track of how certain results were calculated. It can also be frustrating when small errors in formulas affect large amounts of data without being immediately obvious.
>
> Overall, my experience with Microsoft Excel has been very positive. I find it to be a reliable and practical tool for organising information, analysing data and presenting results clearly. Over time, I’ve become more comfortable using different features such as formulas, charts and data organisation tools, which has made working with data much more efficient. While there can sometimes be challenges with complex spreadsheets, overall Excel is a very useful application that helps improve productivity and accuracy.
